Pripyat. Fog

January, 24th, 2009. Pripyat. Outdoors is about zero. Thaw. From above it is continuous pour a drizzle and underfoot - snowdrifts of thawing snow. Humidity such that before each shot it is necessary to wipe a camera objective for a long time.

I thought a long while that I will write about this trip... And, I have decided not to write anything. It just simply photos of the empty thrown city. Today it - foggy, snow-covered, rainy, sleepy and melancholic.

There are three of us: me (i.e. Yevgen Goncharenko), Kolya Kolomiets (we already somehow walked with him across Pripyat and vicinities in the autumn of 2006) and Geneva Matveeva (the girl with a surprising name who almost every month comes to the Zone from the far Russian city Ekaterinburg (Yekaterinburg)).

About two years ago to Sasha Sirota, the permanent helmsman of public organization and the site with the same name pripyat.com, were come to mind a remarkable idea: to photograph in Pripyat the thrown apartments, at the desire of their former owners. Pripayters have approved the idea and... In some weeks they have filled up a forum of above-mentioned site with the demands. And as demands every day became more and more, and possibilities to realize them within the limits of planned trips ever less, it has been decided to arrange "the massed appartments photo-landing" to Pripyat, and also, whenever possible, to eliminate blanks in an address book and in an interactive map of the city.

"Troops landed" staff (from pripyat.com): Sasha (planca) Sirota, Anja (Alpha) Gorelysheva, Ivan (Ulis) Tsepaev, Yevgen (KRANZ) Goncharenko. Denis (Yangwy) Vishnevsky - the Ecocenter, Jura (tatarchuk) Tatarchuk - Chernobyl Inter Inform.

Railroad in Zone

The idea of this trip has arisen at me about two years ago after I unsuccessfully tried to pass by the car to a passenger platform "Buriakivka" from outside the village with the same name. By the car you will not approach, on foot - it is far. And to go on foot on cross ties of 16 km from Janiv to Tovstiy Lis is not a big pleasure.

So it was necessary to go one by rail.
